How to use Simple Present

In this session, you will study the simple present tense. The simple present is used to talk about daily routines, habits, and facts. After this session, you will be able to express your own routine, and habits that happen in your usual routine. This lab session contains different activities that will help you to understand more the simple present test which is really important to communicate our ideas since an early beginning as ESL learners. This Lab session is divided into 6 parts that you will put your knowledge about Simple Present tense into many exercises; for example, there are exercises about positive sentences, negative sentences, yes/no questions and Wh- questions.

1)  Firstly, here you have this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZTb7lK6eJg where you can check a video which introduces you the “Simple Present Tense”. It shows you how to use this structure by providing affirmative, negative, and yes/ no question examples, and also keywords that you need to take into account to identify the appropriate statements. Then, you should check this other video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PHccSj02zT4 which teaches you how to make questions with Wh-words in simple present.
Time: 10- 12 minutes


2) Now, you will practice affirmative simple present statements. This first link https://web2.uvcs.uvic.ca/courses/elc/studyzone/330/grammar/pres1.htm contains multiple-choice exercises that you have to answer with the correct option. After that, you can check this other link https://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/exercises/tenses/simple_present_statements.htm and you have to put the correct form of the verbs using the simple present.

Time: 8 minutes



 3) It’s time to practice negative simple present statements! In this link https://agendaweb.org/exercises/verbs/present/negative-write.htm, you have to write the negative form (don’t/ doesn’t) to complete the sentence. Then, you can find here http://www.english-room.com/grammar/presentsimpletense_dodoesnot_1.htm a similar exercise that you need to complete by filling in the blanks the correct form (do not/ does not) for negative simple present statements.

Time: 8 minutes.



4) To continue, it's time that you practices some yes/no questions. Enter this linkhttps://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/exercises/questions/simple_present.htm and you have to put the verbs in the correct order into the gaps that are presented. Moreover,  in this next exercise, you should select the correct order to form yes/ no questions: https://www.englisch-hilfen.de/en/exercises/questions/word

5) Now, you have to practice Wh- questions by complete the next exercises:

First, you need to go to the next link: https://www.englishexercises.org/makeagame/viewgame.asp?id=1718 and complete all the exercises, by identifying when you use do or does". Next, go to https://www.ego4u.com/en/cram-up/grammar/simple-present/form/exercises?05. and form the questions, according to what you have learned.
